Southeast of the city center is Fountain Square, which is also undergoing a revival as an ethnic and cultural district. The Wholesale District has grown into one of the most active regions in the city, hosting stadiums, restaurants and the home of the city's symphony. With the reopening of the city's central canal, Canal and White River park has grown into a recreational area while Indiana Avenue became the center of Indianapolis's homegrown art and music scene.
